FREE Weekly Seminar for people who have a friend or loved one with substance abuse issues.

Our Lady of Peace

Our Lady of Peace, located at 2020 Newburg Road, now offers free weekly seminars on Tuesday nights for family members and friends of substance users.  Oftentimes, family members and friends suffer tremendously while trying to deal with the consequences of their loved ones’ actions and trying to hide them. But there is help.

The seminar series called “Living with and Loving Someone When Substance Abuse is a Problem” addresses the problem, its effects on others, the feeling of helplessness, co-occurring or dual diagnoses and coping skills and resources for help and assistance.

These seminars are led by highly-skilled, licensed mental health professionals with many years of experience working with substance abusers   Each seminar is designed to teach participants about a specific critical topic related to substance abuse.  Each week a new general topic will be covered, so you can join in the meetings any week. Throughout these seminars, you will learn more about:

            Alcohol and drug use

            Impact on relationships

            Loss and grief

            Dual diagnoses

            Coping and resources

Seminars will be held in the Outpatient Meeting Room located on the first floor of Our Lady of Peace.  A welcome and introduction with light refreshments will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the seminar from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
