ER or After Hours Care: Do You Know Where to Go?

Making choices can be tough when you or someone in your family needs quick medical attention. This is especially true when your physician’s office has closed and you don’t have much time to decide where to go for help.

A program such as Jewish After Hours Care is the right place to go for medical problems that need immediate — but not emergency — attention. Examples of these types of medical situations include:

  • minor sprains and cuts;
  • sore throats;
  • fevers; and
  • ear infections.
Although not a complete list, the following are examples of true emergency situations:
  • chest pain;
  • trouble breathing;
  • head or back injuries; and
  • bleeding or vomiting that won’t stop.
When in doubt, go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.

Jewish After Hours Care is open Monday through Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 9 p.m. For Jewish After Hours Care locations, call 866-521-DOCS (3627).
