Dealing with a Loved One’s Substance Abuse
Oftentimes, family members and friends suffer tremendously while trying to deal with the consequences of their loved ones’ substance abuse. But there is help. Our Lady of Peace, located at 2020 Newburg Road, now offers free weekly seminars on Tuesday nights for family members and friends of substance abusers.
The FREE seminar series called “Living with and Loving Someone When Substance Abuse Is a Problem” addresses the problem, its effects on others, the feeling of helplessness and co-occurring or dual diagnoses. It also focuses on coping skills and offers helpful resources.
These seminars are led by highly skilled, licensed mental health professionals with many years of experience working with substance abusers. Each week a critical topic related to substance abuse will be covered, so you can join in the meetings any week. Throughout these seminars, you will learn more about:
- alcohol and drug use;
- impact on relationships;
- loss and grief;
- dual diagnoses; and
- coping and resources.
