Dear Neighbor

Early detection dramatically improves the chances of successfully treating illnesses such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease. That’s why the American Cancer Society recommends that men age 50 and older undergo a prostate screening every year. Women older than 40 should get an annual mammogram, and all adults older than 50 should have a screening colonoscopy every five to 10 years. To protect against diabetes, adults 45 and older should undergo glucose screening every three years.

Many of these guidelines apply to healthy adults. People at high risk for certain diseases may need earlier or more frequent screenings. Talk with your doctor to learn more. If you need a doctor, call our physician referral line at 866-521-DOCS. Getting screened is the best thing you can do for your health.
