2/12/2009 Get Game-Give Life with Organ Donation at University of Louisville Men's Basketball Game
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Get Game – Give Life® with Organ Donation at University of Louisville Men’s Basketball Game LOUISVILLE, KY (February 12, 2009) – Joseph Buell, M.D., Director of Transplantation with the Transplant Center at Jewish Hospital and professor of surgery at the University of Louisville Department of Surgery, will speak at halftime of the University of Louisville men’s basketball game on Sunday, February 15, 2009. His goal will be to encourage people to become organ donors, as part of the Get Game – Give Life® national campaign. Dr. Buell will be joined on-court by organ transplant recipients and donor families sharing the facts about organ donation, and fans will then have the opportunity to register throughout the game with the help of the Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates. Get Game – Give Life® is a national program designed to raise awareness of the importance of orgran donation among college students and sports fans. The mission of the program is simple: to increase organ donation rates and help save lives. Astellas, a pharmaceutical company, is the 2009 presenting sponsor.
