ERCKENBRACK NAMED NEW CEO AT JEWISH HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER SOUTH

LOUISVILLE, KY (February 16, 2009) – Dawn Erckenbrack, Ed.D will be joining Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare (JHSMH) as President and Chief Executive Officer of Jewish Hospital Medical Center South and JHSMH Assistant Vice President.  Erckenbrack will officially join the organization on April 6 after she completes her active military assignment at Ireland Community Hospital at Fort Knox, Kentucky. 

Erckenbrack presently serves as Chief Operations Officer at Ireland.  In this role, she participates in operations and all long-term and short-term strategic planning for the 31-bed inpatient hospital as well as for 30 in-house clinics; four stand-alone primary care clinics and five occupational health clinics across a six-state region.

She is also responsible for administrative and support services within the hospital including: fiscal management, human resources, information management, emergency preparedness, education and training, inpatient/ outpatient food and nutrition, inpatient/outpatient medical records, plant operations, medical material, environmental services and marketing.

Before joining Ireland as the Chief Operations Officer, Erckenbrack served as a Senior Health Program Manager and Senior Health Policy Analyst, both at the Department of Defense (Health Affairs) in Arlington, Virginia, as an Associate Administrator at Ireland, and as Director of Clinical Business Operations for the North Atlantic Regional Medical Command in Washington, D.C.

An undergraduate of Morehead State University where she was a scholarship student in the Reserved Officers Training Program (ROTC), Erckenbrack received her Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from Baylor University in Waco, Texas and her Doctorate of Education Degree in Health Services Administration and Policy from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.  She is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the Regents Advisory Council.
