Our Lady of Peace Opens First Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities

for Intensive Special Needs in Kentucky


Louisville, Ky. (April 29, 2009) – Our Lady of Peace – a service of Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare – will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, April 30 at 10 a.m. to open Kentucky’s first Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (PRTF) serving children, age 12-17, with intensive special needs. 

The new facilities were designed and built for children with psychiatric conditions and other special needs including mental retardation, autism or brain injury.  The two PRTFs are located on property between 4419 LaSalle and 4416 Malcolm avenues in south Louisville (40215 -- near Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital and behind the St. Mary’s Surgery Center on Churchman Avenue).
           
The $2.1 million building project includes two, one-of-a-kind, facilities in Kentucky designed to serve children and adolescents as a "step down" residential center from inpatient psychiatric hospital care. Each facility includes nine beds, a food preparation area, dining area, baths and classroom.
