Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Trager Rehab Pavilion at Frazier Rehab Institute

Republic Bank’s Trager Family Honored

Who:      Steve and Bernard Trager Families being recognized for donation to Frazier Rehab Institute

What:     The capstone of the Trager families’ most recent gift to create the Trager Rehab Pavilion at Frazier Rehab Institute will be recognized with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The Trager’s gift created a very special facility to serve as the home base for one of the most high-profile, premier services at Frazier – the Spinal Cord Medicine Program.  The program has virtually everything needed to assist, educate and motivate people with spinal cord injuries: from activity-based rehab like the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation Locomotor Training Program, to education and support programs, and translational research.  The caliber of the services is drawn on by patients from across the U.S.

When:  Monday, June 1, 2009
 5:00-6:30 p.m.
  Remarks at 5:40 p.m.

Where:   Frazier Rehab Institute & Neuroscience Center
220 Abraham Flexner Way, 11th Floor Gym, Louisville, KY

Other: The Trager Rehab Pavilion at Frazier Rehab Institute offers the best of the best including…

• The Spinal Cord Medicine Clinic where patients can see a board-certified physician for on-going medical consults to manage their special needs
• The Community Outreach & Resource Center where patients and families can network, find information and support.
• A Pulmonary Rehab Gym – so often needed for spinal cord patients whose lungs suffer impairment
• An Assistive Technology Center, providing the tools and technologies people need to live life to the fullest—from wheelchairs to communication devices.
• A Neurophysiologic Assessment Lab
• A gym which is used not only for inpatient and outpatient treatment, but as an after hours gym for those who are disabled and want to maintain their fitness
• Soon to open, luxury inpatient beds to house our spinal cord patients and other special VIPs.

Interview and Photo Opportunities will be available with the Trager family including ribbon cutting and the remarkable story of Debbie Rosen, spinal cord injury patient. Rosen was involved in rollover auto accident in October of 2005. She suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury, spent several months in the hospital, received very little rehab and was placed in an Alabama nursing home for over two years before coming to Frazier Rehab where she is learning to walk again.

About Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Foundation
Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare is vital to the health of Kentuckiana. The organization’s 8,100 health care “heroes” touch the lives of more than one million patients and provide charity care and community benefits in excess of $52 million each year. The organization funds lifesaving research and high-tech medical care, often pioneering services that are state and national firsts. JHSMH cares for people in their own neighborhoods through its community hospitals, outpatient centers, mobile occupational health clinics, and physician offices. In turn, individuals, corporations and charitable foundations have stepped forward to sustain this medical mission through gifts to the Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Foundation.  This support bridges the gap between the available resources and what is needed to achieve excellence in meeting patients’ needs. The Foundation focuses on these core areas: enhancing patient care, educating health caregivers, funding leading edge medical research, and improving access to quality health care
