Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital patients are being transferred due to flooding and power issues

8/4/09 4:45 p.m.

Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare announces that Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital patients are being transferred due to flooding and power issues.  This is a non-emergent situation and patients are being transferred in an orderly manner.  At this time, Jewish Hospital anticipates receiving 70 patients.  Eight other patients are expected to be transferred to Norton Audubon Hospital.  Additionally, a number of patients have been discharged to their home by physicians as appropriate.

The Emergency Department at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital will remain open for community members who need emergency care. Family members wishing to inquire on the location of their loved ones should call (502) 587-4011.

We have received multiple calls from local health care facilities offering extra staffing as needed, including VA Hospital.  We appreciate the support offered by the community.

Additional questions should be directed to Jeff Polson at (502) 939-4212.  Updates will be provided periodically.
