Our Lady of Peace Unveils Children’s Peace Center Program

New program name, logo emphasizes diverse children’s services

Louisville, Ky. (August 26, 2009) – Our Lady of Peace – a service of Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare – unveiled its Children’s Peace Center programs today during a ceremony at Our Lady of Peace.

Our Lady of Peace is one of the largest private provider of youth behavioral health services in the country.  Though perceptions exist to the contrary, approximately 70-75% of individuals in inpatient status at the hospital are children.  In addition, the majority of the children treated at the facility are placed in outpatient programs.

The Children’s Peace Center will serve as the banner for the hospital’s children’s programs, which include free assessments by professional clinicians, inpatient care, day and evening outpatient programs and specialized services such as Peace Academy, a partnership with Jefferson County Public Schools that allows children to continue their classwork while receiving treatment.

Children’s Peace Center signs can now be seen on the front of the hospital, located at 2020 Newburg Road in the Highlands.

For the past 58 years, Our Lady of Peace has opened its doors to children regardless of age, conditions or ability to pay.  The campus is specially equipped for children with unique areas for activities, playgrounds, a gymnasium and a classroom where they can continue their studies and avoid falling behind.

While Our Lady of Peace has high success rates treating some of the most complex mental disorders, the hospital’s psychiatric physician staff treat many children with more common disorders such as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), depression, anxiety, anger control and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Parents can schedule a free assessment by a licensed clinical therapist who will personally assess the child’s needs and recommend the most appropriate care by calling 502-451-3333.
